Zmajević Palace – an ancient luxury palace located in the heart of medieval Perast. It used to be the seat of two bishops, Andrija and Vicko Zmajević, and was called “Biskupija”. It is an example of the best villas dating back to the 17th century. Century.
Built in stages, the palace received its final Baroque form in 1664. years under Andrija Zmajević. On the rock, the unique design features symmetrical wings and frescoes by the Baroque painter Trip Kokoli, who was financed by Zmajević. The structure evolved from a defensive tower to an extension up the hill, resulting in a central section of both the north and south wings.
Originally from Vrba od Njeguš, the influential Perast family Zmajević, part of the Perojević case, wears an emblem with a winged dragon and stars. Famous for creating important personalities in the history of Perast, the palace is in the final reconstruction while preserving the architectural essence from the time of the Zmajevićs. Despite the internal changes, the original construction logic and authentic materials remained, ensuring the continued dominance of the palace in Perast.
Spread over a plot of 1605 square meters, the palace covers 565 square meters. Surrounded by solid stone walls, the property includes gardens with terraces and offers stunning views of the Bay of Kotor and the islands of Our Lady of the Rocks.
